Department of History, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce & Kingdom of Dreams Present ‘DHAROHAR 2016’2 min read


It is the annual cultural festival which promotes liberty, energy, enthusiasm, and provides students with the opportunity to explore and rediscover themselves. ‘Dharohar’ fosters creativity and imagination to stimulate the professional superiority and proficiency. Each year faithful alumni students, faculty, family, friends, and the surrounding community participate in the premium festival celebrations.

The Department of History is among the oldest departments of DCAC, having offered undergraduate level education in History since the inception of the college in 1987. Over the years the department has organized various programs such as the international event “A Day for Tibet”, seminars, presentations by eminent historians, etc. on a regular basis. As part of the college and department tradition of encouraging academic discourse and discussion organize an annual history festival called Dharohar, an event where students are encouraged to participate and compete in a variety of events ranging from debates to dances, quizzes to academic lectures, and with the centre piece always an annual exhibition, to encourage exploration of alternative methods of learning, as well as to provoke discussion on History as well as its relevance in daily modern discourse. This year they will to take the entire experience to the next level.

This year the following events are being organized by the department:

Day 1)

  • The annual exhibition on the “The Numismatic History of India”: tracing the journey of Indian coinage, with special reference to women in Indian coins.
  • Film and Documentary screenings
  • Lecture series by eminent historians
  • Quiz:
  • Poster and Collage Making Competition:
  • Treasure Hunt
  • Poetry competition:
  • Singing competition (Duet/ Solo/group):
  • DJ Performance by DJ RS
