A month ago, the freshers of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies were taken to IIM Indore to compete with some of the most ingenious minds of the nation.

The CBS contingent comprising of Ecovision and FinX society members departed for Atharv, IIM-Indore’s three-day management and cultural fest on 7th September.

With over 70 schools and 1700 students taking part in it, this was one of the biggest under-graduate events of India.

The very next day, the race began with the sound of trumpets in their hearts. With events, competitions and workshops lined up from one morning to the next, IIM I ensured that there was never a dull moment on their humongous campus.

Some of their most erratic events were Imperium – the mega flagship event which commenced at midnight, and Game of Shadows – a competition based on Game Theory and judgement skills which went on till 5AM in the morning. The events lineup included “Head Hunter”-involving mock Human Resource work, “Finopoly”, -the outcry based mock stock event which was a chaos in itself, “Econjecture” – involving the presentation of economic skill in interesting real life case studies, a B-Quiz, and “Vendition Venditta”, the marketing event, where they had to pitch their ideas.

However, may it be the extraneous humdrum or the insomnia-inducing schedule, nothing could dampen the spirit of the young CBSites. All of it acted as a further impetus to the Ecovision and FinX contingents, who were more than willing to burn the midnight oil to bring laurels to their college. Sleep, indeed, is a scarce commodity in Indore.

Amidst the thoroughly exacting schedule, informal events such as Zorbing, Paintball, Laser Maze and an exhilarating array of stunts performed by trained professionals provided a much needed respite to the participants. The Comedy Night with Zakir Khan as well as Vh1 Supersonic Pro Night with prominent DJs like Candice Redding were savoured by the students to the fullest. A spiritual end to a wholesome journey was provided by an excursion to Lord Shiva’s Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain.

All in all, the trip was well-organized wherein all the spheres of accommodation, traveling and food were taken care of. It also proved to be instrumental in strengthening the camaraderie between the first and second year students and has lent a most wonderful start to the semester.
