For admission to Delhi University, one can never be sure even with 99% in 12th boards because every year DU will do nothing but surprise you with even higher cut-offs. There have been a lot of trolls and criticism around this but DU keeps on increasing them every year.

However, one can obviously be sure about their inner talent and use them as well! Those certificates hanging on your walls, which you thought were of no use, might just help you get admission in the best colleges of DU.

Yes, you read it right, your extracurricular activities might make it easy for you to get admission in your dream college under DU.



There is 5% reservation of seats for candidates under ECA/ Sports quota in DU colleges.

People looking for admission through Extracurricular Activities (ECA) and Sports quotas also need to apply for UG admissions through the centralized admission portal of DU

The dates for registration and other formalities are yet to be announced but you can expect them to come out in the first week of July.


DU Admission Procedure 2017 & Eligibility Criteria for ECA Quota Candidates:-

Candidates seeking admission under ECA quota first need to register themselves on the official website of Delhi University. It may be noted that at the time of online registration for DU admission 2017, candidates need to upload their ECA certificate which will work as an evidence of their participation in a particular ECA. It may also be noted that the certificate should not be more than three years old.

DU admissions 2017 for ECA category candidates will be done on the basis of merit which will be determined through marks earned by a candidate under following headers/categories:

  • Certificates (25% weightage)
  • Trials (75% weightage)

Trials will be conducted at two levels:

  • Preliminary trials
  • Final trials

Cultural Council of Delhi University will identify some DU colleges which will conduct trials for a specific extra-curricular activity. The dates for preliminary and final trials will be notified on the official website of respective colleges and Delhi University. It should also be noted that the candidates will be allowed to appear for preliminary trials only once. Shortlisted candidates will then have to appear for the final trials.

Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks (38/75) in final trials in order to be eligible for DU admissions 2017. After the final trials, a merit list will be prepared by the respective colleges based on which the candidates will be provided admission in the university.

Note: Weightage will be given to candidates who have been winners or participants in a particular ECA activity at National, International, State, Zonal, and School level.

Candidates seeking admission under this quota will have to submit winning or participating certificates from last three years.

  • ECA activities:

There are few extra-curricular activities which are included in this quota and they are:

  1. Dance: Indian Classical, Indian Folk and Western.
  2. Choreography
  3. NCC and NSS
  4. Vocal: Indian Classical, Indian Light and Folk, Western Classical and Western Light.
  5. Instrumental: Indian Classical, Indian Light, Western Classical and Western Light.
  6. Theatre: Dramatics, Street Play
  7. Creative Writing: Creative Writing (Hindi) and Creative Writing (English).
  8. Debate: Debate (Hindi) and Debate (English). Quiz as well.
  9. Fine Arts: Sketching & Painting, Sculpting.
  10. Digital Media: Still Photography, Film Making and
