The Culture Council of Delhi University organized a theatre fest of one day titled “EK DASHAK ABHIRANG KA” at Hindu College on March 14, 2016.
Seven teams from Delhi University participated in the event.
The respective colleges that participated in the event were:
Hindu College, Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (M), Kirori Mal College, Rajdhani College, Mata Sundri College for Women, Bharti College and ShyamLal College (M) respectively.
The event had the aforementioned colleges performing their respective stage plays in the event. By performing such plays, the respective colleges spread out a message appealing to the masses regarding different issues that carried a social message with them.
ShyamLal College (M) won the first prize for performing their annual production titled “AARZOO”, with Hindu College finishing as runners up for performing “SADRATI” and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (M) coming in at 3rd position for performing D-41, Heetal Road respectively.
AARZOO the annual production of Shyam Lal College (M) secured the first position in the competition. ‘AARZOO’ is a portrayal of humanity, which isn’t bound by gender or any other limitations. Herein, a transgender brings in the lost values and teaches us a lesson for life. He nurtures a girl child as his own and fights for her until his last breath. It confronts the society and their reckless thoughts. It brings forth affection and rights for every individual.
The play is a symbol of appreciation to the transgenders or should we say once: touched by God.
Performing in this event was a great learning experience for the cast of the play.
