A list was announced by HRD minister Prakash Javadekar on Monday 3rd Arpil, on the basis of a survey of “general degree” colleges under the National Institutional Ranking Framework, under which Delhi University’s Miranda House has been declared the best college and Bengaluru’s Indian institute of Science as the best university in India. Colleges have been ranked this way for the first time.
Loyola College, Chennai and Sri Ram College of Commerce bagged the second and third positions respectively in the list of colleges while Jawaharlal Nehru University and Banaras Hindu University respectively secured second and third positions in the list of top universities.
Other Delhi university colleges which made it to the top ten list were-
Atma Ram Sanatan Dharam College -5
Lady Sri Ram College for Women -6
Dyal Singh College -8
Deen Dyal Upadhyay College -9
The list may have come as a bit of a surprise with ARSD being ranked above LSR, and no mention of colleges such as Hindu, St. Stephen’s, Hansraj and Ramjas. But this riddle is solved by the fact that rankings have been given to only those colleges which applied for them, indicating that some of these prestigious colleges may not in fact have applied for the process.
Also, ranks have been given on the basis of a detailed analysis of data submitted by colleges themselves, Javadekar said.
Keshav Mahavidyalaya got the 15th position in colleges, while Shaheed Bhagat Singh College (Evening) ranked 34th and SGND Khalsa College ranked 46th.
Congratulations to all the staff and students of these colleges for performing excellently in the survey.
Tag someone from these colleges and make their day.
