Nanosciences -opportunities and challenges
On 19th and 20th February, 2016, Maitreyi College organised a two-day conference on Nanosciences to discuss its opportunities and challenges. The conference was organised by the Chemistry department of the college.
Nanosciences is the emerging field in science and technology and is poised to bring in revolutionary changes across all spheres of life. It has the potential to become the sunrise sector in the future. Over 300 participants and 50 poster presentation participants came from different colleges across diverse parts of the country. The speakers for the conference were from Institute of Nanoscience and Technology, CSIR, NPL, DRDO, TIRF, IIT and various other prestigious institutions for research. The Chief Guest was Dr.Archana Thakur, Joint Secretary UGC and Guest of Honor was Proff. Gurmeet Singh, Head- Department of Chemistry. A hands on session on “How nano molecules look like?” was carried out in Modelmania facilitated by Msc. students from IIT, Delhi.
The speakers were constantly interacting with the students making the whole conference more fun and informative. It successfully came out as an excellent learning opportunity for everyone present in the conference.
The event was undoubtedly successful due to financial support by UGC and Star College Scheme.
